Pencil these events into your calendar to celebrate St. Paddy's Day

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this weekend and here are some fun ideas in case you don’t want to go on a stereotypical pub crawl.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

  • When: Sunday, March 17 at 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Where: Armory Park, 221 S. 6th Ave.

The 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival returns to Armory Park in Downtown Tucson. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., at Stone Avenue and 17th Street. It will continue down South Stone Avenue and will turn on East Ochoa Street onto South Scott Avenue. It will then turn on to East 12th Street and right on South 6th Avenue to end at Armory Park. The parade will include floats, social groups, marchers, military units and Sahuarita Mayor Tom Murphy as the grand marshal. Meanwhile, the festival will begin at 10 a.m. and there will be food from local vendors, merch, live Irish music and other entertainment as well as a children’s area. This is a free event and fit for people of all ages.

Nancy McCallion and friends, Atmosphere & DJ PC Paddy

  • When: Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Where: Hotel Congress Plaza, 311 E. Congress St.

The lineup for St. Paddy’s day at the Hotel Congress Plaza stage includes The Nasties, Nancy McCallion, Atmosphere and DJ PC Paddy. The all-ages concert will run 2-10 p.m. Tickets begin at $10.

St. Patrick’s Day Party

  • When: Sunday, 4-7 p.m.
  • Where: Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, 5501 N. Hacienda del Sol Rd.

The party at Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort will offer a beer garden, an Irish-themed buffet and live music. Each attendee will receive two complementary drinks, which they will be able to choose between a themed beer or cocktail. The entertainment for the evening includes music by Puca and the Wild Ones, Mary Bouley, Herding Cats and dancers from the MacGuire School of Dance. Food will be served buffet-style with dishes such as corned beef, Irish bangers and colcannon, vegetarian shepherd’s pie, Guinness brownies and more. Tickets per adults are $80.

St. Patty’s Day Glass Painting

  • When: Sunday, 2-5 p.m.
  • Where: Bawker Bawker Cider House, 400 N. 4th Ave.

Celebrate St. Patrick in an artsy way by painting a wine glass, beer stein or glass coffee mug at Bawker Bawker Cider House. The event is a 21 and older and there will be wine, beer and quesadillas there for purchase. Tickets are $45.

IBT’s St. Patrick’s Day Sunday Funday

  • When: Sunday, 1-3 p.m.
  • Where: IBT’s Bar + Food, 616 N. 4th Ave.

IBT’s St. Patrick’s Day drag show will begin at 1 p.m. and while people can go in without cover, there are seating options available for reservations. The $10 reserved seat option doesn’t include bottomless mimosas but it includes a drink. People can choose from a well cocktail, a domestic beer, a draft beer or a non-alcoholic beverage. A $20 reserved seat includes bottomless mimosas. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets available online.

Raise a pint at The Shanty

  • Where: The Shanty, 401 E. 9th St.

The Shanty’s anniversary is on St. Patrick’s Day and as a Tucson institution, it would be appropriate to swing on over and raise a pint of the black stuff.
