From Menorahs to Gelt drops, here are some events to celebrate Hannukah in Tucson and nearby areas.
Community Hanukkah Candlelight
- When: Sunday, Dec. 10 from 4-5:30 p.m.
- Where: Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center, 564 S. Stone Ave.
This is a free event and all ages are welcome. There will be crafts, jelly donuts, Klezmer music, a Magen David Adom ambulance tour and lights to light.
Chanukah Festival
- When: Sunday, Dec. 10 from 3-4 p.m.
- Where: Oro Valley Marketplace, lot near the Red Lobster
From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be free latkes and donuts, a Jewish art exhibit, crafts and music at the festival. From 4-4:30 p.m., there will be the Grand Menorah Lighting, a tribute to Israel and the Gelt Drop. This is a free event open for the community.
Lighting the Way! 5th Anniversary & Hanukkah Celebration
- When: Sunday, Dec. 10 from 5-8:30 p.m.
- Where: Church of the Apostles, 12111 N. La Cholla Blvd.
Tickets and sponsorships for this event can be purchased through beitsimchatucson.org or by mailing a check to Beit Simcha, 5501 N. Oracle Rd., Ste. 125. Individual admission is $54 per person. There will be food catered by Catalina Caterers, Hannukah Music, live entertainment by the Chai Five and storytelling by Jim Weiss.
Grand Chanukah Celebration
- When: Sunday, Dec. 10 from 5-6 p.m.
- Where: Purple Heart Park, 10050 E. Rita Rd.
The Grand Chanukah Celebration is a free event for all ages. There will be a giant Menorah lighting, a raffle, latkes and donuts, music and activities plus a Gelt drop.
5K Hot Cocoa Run 2023
- When: Sunday, Dec. 17 from 7:30-11 a.m.
- Where: The Tucson J, 3800 E. River Rd.
The 7th Annual Hanukkah Hot Cocoa Run has races for all levels. There will be a free-to-enter 1K Fun Run and a paid entry 1 Mile and paid entry 5K’s. Packet pick-up is both on Friday, Dec. 15 from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 16 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aside from the races, there will be bounce houses, vendors, face painting, a bike shop and more.
