Drop off hazardous household waste, old documents & more at Tucson collection event Saturday

Get rid of your old paint, computers and sensitive documents this weekend at the City of Tucson’s monthly household hazardous waste collection event.

The city’s Environmental and General Services Department will be collecting household hazardous waste such as paint and oil alongside electronic waste, recyclables, glass bottles and jars and up to three boxes of documents for shredding from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, February 10, at Pima College West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Road.

Disposal is free for Tucson residents. Those living in nearby suburbs or unincorporated Pima County must pay a $10 fee.

The city will not accept unknown chemicals, business or commercial waste, commercial gas cylinders, CRT monitors, explosives or ammunition, infectious or radioactive waste, dried paint, or medical waste. Find a complete list of what will be accepted here.

City residents can also drop off household hazardous waste at the city’s Los Reales Sustainability Campus, 5300 E. Los Reales Road, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, except on Saturdays when the city is doing its monthly HHS collection events.

The next monthly collection event will be on Saturday, March 9, at the IBEW union hall, 750 N. Tucson Blvd.  Find a complete list of collection dates and more information here.
