Cinco de Mayo weekend is coming up and here are some Cinco-related events — and more — happening in Tucson.
Cinco de Mayo Tucson Fiesta
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 6 p.m.
- Where: The Neighborhood DWTN, 61 E. Congress St.
The Fiesta at The Neighborhood DWTN is an event for all ages – 21 and older only after 10 p.m. There will be Mexican food vendors on site such as Ensenada Street Food, La Chingada Cocina, Just Churros and more. There will be lucha libre and live murals as well as music by DJ Soo, Rastas Band, DJ Osman and more. Tickets in advance at $25 but can be bought at the door for $35. Children 12 years and under can enter for free.
8th Annual Baja Beer Festival 2024
- When: Saturday, May 4 from 12 – 4:30 p.m.
- Where: Armory Park, 222 S. 5th Ave.
Over 30 Arizona breweries will be serving up their brews in Armory Park for the beer festival. The lineup includes Baja Brewing Company, Barrio Brewing Co., Crooked Tooth Brewing Co., Thunder Canyon Brewery and more. There will be food vendors on site too. General admission for the beer fest is $55 and it includes 24 tasting tickets. Designated drivers go in for $15 and they will not be able to consume alcohol at the festival. No one under 21 years old nor pets are allowed.
I Dream In Widescreen 2024
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m.
- Where: The Fox Theatre, 17 W. Congress St.
I Dream In Widescreen is the annual showcase of thesis films made by University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film and Television’s seniors. Tickets are $5.
May the 4th at The Parish
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 5 p.m.
- Where: The Parish, 6453 N. Oracle Rd.
The Parish’s May the 4th event is a Star Wars-themed benefit for Taking Up Space, a nonprofit that aims to bring more Native American girls to NASA’s Space Camp. There will be character tiki with the purchase of an entree – limited to two per guest – as supplies last. Trivia begins at 8 p.m. and the first place winner will get a R2D2 toaster. There will be raffles and a costume contest from 6 – 8 p.m. Reservations can be made online.
Star Wars at The Loft
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m.
- Where: The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.
The Loft Cinema will be screening “Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV)” for May the 4th at 2 p.m. General admission is $10.50. Discounted tickets for teachers, students and military members are $8.50. Kids and senior tickets are $7.50.
Fiesta de Garibaldi
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Where: Jacome Plaza, 101 N. Stone Ave.
The Fiesta de Garibaldi showcases music and dance performances from the Tucson International Mariachi Conference. Tickets can be purchased online for $25 but they will also be available at the gate.
Science at Sunset: A Galaxy Far, Far Away
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Where: Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium, 1601 E. University Blvd.
The science center’s Star Wars-themed evening includes trivia, costume contest, and presentations about space as well as activities and a laser show to the “Imperial March” and “Cantina Band.” Tickets are $25 for non-members and $15 for members. Children under 2 years old enter for free.
Cinco de Mayo Weekend
- When: Saturday, May 4 at 12 p.m.
- Where: Lost Barrio Gallery, 208 S. Park Ave.
The Lost Barrio Gallery will be hosting live performers starting at noon. The lineup includes Salvador Duran, Oscar Fuentes, Kiri Escalante and more. There will also be drinks and art for sale on site.
